KPDcitzensKyle Police have arrested a man they believe fired at least one shot at firefighters.

The incident occurred shortly after 1 am on Monday morning when the Kyle Fire Department responded to a structure fire at 390 Buggy Whip in the Sunset Ridge Trailer Park (map below) in Kyle to find a storage shed on fire. Shortly after distinguishing the fire, fire fighters reported hearing a shot or shots fired and then hearing a bullet impact a wall behind them.

Kyle police responded and determined the shot had come from a home in the vicinity. Upon further investigation of the residence at 928 Harvest Moon, Kyle police found a man in the home asleep in his bed with a rifle by his side.

After waking the man, he became combative and refused police commands to surrender the rifle. Kyle officers then tazed the man and took him into custody.

Police arrested Jason Montalvo, 18, and booked him into the Hays County Jail for Assault on a Public servant as well as an outstanding Travis County Warrant for Possession of Marijuana.

San Marcos police and Hays County SWAT were also dispatched as back up.
