JamesEarpKYLE, TX – The Kyle City Council has appointed current Kyle Assistant City Manager James R. Earp, CPM, to serve as interim city manager while the council conducts a search for a new permanent city manager.

Earp came to Kyle in September 2006, from the City of Ennis where he served for two years as Assistant to the City Manager. He also served as Interim City Manager from April 2010 to January 2011 after the departure of former city manager Tom Mattis.

“We have the utmost confidence in James to lead our staff during this transition,” said Kyle Mayor Todd Webster. “James is highly knowledgeable about every facet of our organization and has the council’s full support while we conduct our search for the next city manager for Kyle.”

“It’s an honor for me to be asked to take the reigns and lead our team during this transition,” said Earp. “I promise to live up to the high expectations of this council and to have our organization in top shape for the next city manager.”

Earp has a Masters of Public Administration degree from the University of Texas at Arlington and has also received a Graduate Certificate in Environmental Management, focusing heavily on sustainable development of cities, from Harvard University. He also a holds a BBA in Finance and a BS in Economics from Tarleton State University and holds a Certified Public Manager designation.

The appointment is the result of a special called council meeting on Saturday, September 6th.

Earp replaces former city manger Lanny Lambert who resigned to take the city manager position in Converse, Texas.
