bar-sceneThe Kyle City Council has approved an ordinance allowing bars and restaurants in the city to extend the sale of mixed beverages, until 2 a.m.. The ordinance passed on second reading at the regular council meeting on November 18th.

Passing the ordinance gives existing restaurants and bars, as well as potential new restaurants and bars, the ability to match the operating hours of similar establishments in other area cities where 2 a.m. laws are already in place.

In order for a bar or restaurant to stay open until 2 a.m., the establishment must possess both a mixed beverage permit and a late-hours mixed beverage permit issued by the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission and provide satisfactory written proof of having obtained to the permits to the Kyle Chief of Police.

Prior to the passing of this ordinance, the sale of mixed beverages, which includes beer and wine, was suspended at Midnight in the City of Kyle.
