Work on city parks is continuing as the upgrades approved by the city council are put in place. The upgrades include shade structures over playscapes, new turf and irrigation for ball fields, and much more.

The sports fields in each of the parks have had irrigation systems and new turf installed. The fields are currently closed to allow the turf to grow and become established. The fields are expected to be ready to open by this spring.

Another upgrade to our parks is the installion of shade structures over all the the playscapes. The structures have been ordered and are expected to be installed in March.

Improvements to Mary Kyle Hartson City Square Park, including ground improvements and painting the gazebo, began in January and should be complete soon.

The total cost of the park improvements is $395,000 and is part of the city operating budget approved by the city council for FY 2014-2015.
